A 27-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after a pedestrian was hit by a car on a south-east London road.
Police and ambulance crews were called to Plumstead Common Road, Plumstead, shortly before 6pm on Sunday, to reports of a crash.
They found the victim, aged in his 50s, with a head injury.
He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where he remained fighting for his life on Monday.
The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs.
He remained in custody at a south London police station on Monday.
Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses, or drivers with dash cam footage, to come forward.
The crash came hours after another suspected drug-driving incident in London saw a pedestrian - a 12-year-old boy - hit by a car in Newham.
He too remained critically ill in hospital on Monday, while the driver of the car, a 33-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs.
