A drug dealer was caught with cocaine, 150 pills and wads of cash in a Salford hotel room raid by anti-gang cops.
Joshua Wood, 31, was found in bed by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers after a tip off he had been dealing drugs from his car and staying in a hotel in Worsley.
He was jailed for 42 months earlier this month at Manchester Crown Court after admitting eight drug offences and money laundering.
Police say Wood, of Marston Gardens, Ellesmere Port, was found in bed at the hotel, before he admitted to having drugs in the drawers. Alongside the 250 grams of cocaine and around 150 class C pills, officers also discovered a small amount of cannabis, and around £1,200 in cash.
He initially claimed all the drugs were for personal use, but police analysis of the contents of his phone provided evidence that he was making money through the sale of drugs. He was charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis, possession with intent to supply class C drugs, possession of class A drugs including MDMA, possession of class C drugs, and money laundering.
He admitted all the offences in court. Wood was arrested as part of Operation Naseby, which has helped drive down shootings in the city by over 70 per cent since its launch in April 2020.
The operation has led to 300 arrests, more than 300 car seizures, and around 50 kilograms of drugs seized. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Our commitment to maintaining the crackdown on weapons, criminals, drugs and their assets is hoped will continue to drive down violent crime on our streets even further as our work sustains without relent.
"We've been able to conduct well over 130 house searches thanks to intelligence we have received from the public, and we continue to urge anyone with information or concerns to contact us online via LiveChat, if able, or by calling 101.
