A cocaine and cannabis dealer was caught after he and an accomplice were seen by police selling drugs to a woman. When police seized the dealer's phone they found messages related to the sale of class A drugs.
Abdi Abdiaziz, 26, was driving a car in Cardiff on February 1, 2020, with his co-defendant Abdul Azziz Al-Ekely in the passenger seat. When they passed through the Riverside area of the city, police officers observed a woman getting in and out of the car and were suspicious of a drug deal taking place.
A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday heard police pulled over the car and spoke to the occupants. Following a search, Al-Ekely was found in possession of 21 half gram deals of cocaine, but when Abdiaziz was searched nothing was found on him.

A search of Abdiaziz's home in Miskin Street, Cathays, resulted in around £140 worth of cannabis being found along with scales and drug paraphernalia. Also discovered was a mobile phone which when examined was found to contain messages relating to the sale of cocaine and cannabis.
The defendant later pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs, and possession with intent to supply class B drugs. The court heard he was of relatively good character, except for a conviction in 2012 for an unrelated manner.
Recorder Mark Cotter QC said Abdiaziz played a "significant role" and was dealing for financial gain. He sentenced the defendant to a total of three years and nine months imprisonment.
