Several people have been charged with firearm and drug offences after drones, planes, police boats and helicopters were used to find illegal cannabis plantations on the Furneaux Islands in Bass Strait.
Tasmania Police say they searched "illegal cannabis compounds" and seized cannabis plants, guns and ammunition last week after executing search warrants on Flinders Island.
The investigation was a joint operation by Tasmania's northern drug squad and the Australian Federal Police.
Detective Inspector Craig Fox said the sting was launched based on intelligence about illegal cannabis cultivation on the islands.
A man from Lackrana was one of several Flinders Island residents arrested and charged with drug and firearms offences.
He will reappear at Whitemark Court in May.
Police said there would also be proceedings against several other Flinders Island residents.
The operation also involved the use of vessels to monitor for any illegal activity on the water.
