Drivers are being urged to inspect all four tyres on their vehicles or risk facing staggering fines of up to £10,000.
The cold winter weather can put stress on the cart part and law specialists at Lawtons Solicitors have warned that motorists could also receive penalty points for incorrectly inflated tyres.
The legal minimum tread depth for tyres is 1.6mm, but experts recommend replacing them as soon as they hit 3cm. If the tread depth falls below the requirement, you would incur a fine of £2,500 and three points per tyre.
