Part of the M56 through Trafford will be closed this weekend as work to an add an extra lane is completed. The westbound carriageway between Hale and Altrincham will be shut overnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
It's so the finishing touches can be made to an £85m project to increase the amount of traffic which can use the motorway. Access to the airport at junction 5 will be open at all times but diversions from the westbound M56 will be in place for other drivers heading beyond the airport to the M6 and North Wales.
