UPDATE: The latest post from Traffic Scotland has confirmed all lanes are now running following an earlier collision and "traffic has now returned to normal".
DRIVERS on a major Scottish motorway have been warned of “extreme” delays as a rush-hour crash has closed part of the M74.
In a post on Twitter/X, Traffic Scotland said the northbound carriageway on the M74 at junction nine near Glasgow was closed around 8.21 on Thursday.
It said: “CLOSED northbound due to a collision. Recovery is taking place so that vehicles can be moved to lane one.
“Traffic is extremely heavy in the area.”
The latest update, posted at 8.24am, said that delays are “already building” to around 47 minutes.
The National has approached Police Scotland for comment.
