Drivers have blasted the company that runs a private car park after it dished out £100 parking charges for breaching a rule that was impossible to comply with. It has been called "absolutely scandalous" and "completely unethical".
Parking Charge Notices (PCN) have been issued to drivers at the car park in Sennen, West Cornwall, on the basis that they did not enter their full car registration number when buying a ticket. However, the machine at Sennen Top Car Park only allows visitors to enter the last three digits, meaning it is impossible to comply with the rule.
One victim called the company concerned, Armtrac, "parking cowboys". Armtrac has apologised and said the issue was "an honest mistake" by the landowner. It said the instructions had been updated.
