Driver swerves across road while 'using mobile phone' on M9 in police car footage

This is the moment a motorist almost veered off the road on the M9 near Falkirk while allegedly using his mobile phone behind the wheel.

The footage was captured from inside a police car on Tuesday June 7 - and shows a dark coloured pickup truck almost swerve into the outside lane.

Moments later officers turn on their blue lights, signalling for the driver to pull over.

A 47-year-old man was handed 6 points and a £200 fine following the incident.

Taking to Facebook, Forth Valley Police Division said: "Are Stirling Road Policing's marked BMW X5s easy to spot?

"How distracted do you have to been to nearly hit one?

"The 47-year-old male driver of this pickup was so distracted scrolling through his mobile phone that he nearly veered into one on the M9 near Falkirk on 07/06/22.

"The driver, who was adamant he wasn't drifting in his lane, was issued a Conditional offer fixed penalty ticket (6 points and £200 fine).

"Many people think it's ok to quickly check their phone and that it doesn't affect their driving - it does!"
