A lucky Audi driver cheated death when his £40,000 car was flattened by an 18-tonne lorry in a horror crash. Stunned police said it was a “miracle” the driver walked away with only minor injuries.
The collision happened on the M6 in the early hours of Tuesday (February 28). Dramatic images show a white Audi A5 wedged under the HGV.
The crash took place between junctions 8 and 9 near Walsall in the West Midlands. It is understood the car crashed into the back of a lorry which was stationary at the time.
Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) shared photos of the scene on Twitter. The smash closed the motorway in both directions for two hours.
CMPG said: "Quite miraculously, the driver of this Audi has walked away with only minor injuries after a collision with a stationary HGV (J8-J9 of M6) When people ask why do Motorway Officers deal with people for driving without due care & attention, here is your answer!"
The collision happened hours after drivers faced chaos on the M6 near junction 10 after another lorry crashed into a car and flipped over the central reservation.
