A driver has been reported after allegedly being clocked at 148mph on a Scots road.
Officers swooped on the 36-year-old while they were carrying out speed checks as part of routine patrols on the A78 in Ayrshire.
Cops claim the driver "flew past them" at the "ridiculous" speed while they were on the road, which runs between Troon and Greenock.
He has been reported in connection with alleged road traffic offences.
Following the alleged incident officers have warned motorists to take care on the roads.
Raising the alarm on social media, Road Policing Scotland said: "#AyrshireRP conducted a speed check on the #A78 today. This driver almost flew past them at 148MPH(!!).
"Nice weather doesn’t mean you can drive at these ridiculous speeds. One 36-year-old male reported to @COPFS.
"You never know where our next speed check will be. #DontRiskIt"
Officers confirmed the man has been reported to the procurator fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confimed: "A 36-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with road traffic offences after his vehicle was recorded travelling at excessive speed in Ayrshire.
"The officers were carrying out speed checks on the A78 yesterday as part of routine patrols."
