A driver has died after a horror crash on one of Scotland's busiest roads. Emergency services were scrambled to the Edinburgh City Bypass shortly after 1pm on Tuesday, December 20.
Two motors, a silver Renault Captur and a grey Skoda Karoq, collided on the A720 westbound, close to the Sheriffhall Roundabout.
The Renault driver, a 66-year-old man, was rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh to be treated, but sadly died a short time later.
Police Scotland have launched a probe into the fatal smash and have urged any witnesses, or those with dash-cam footage, to get in touch. Officers closed the road for over three hours while crash investigation work was carried out, with it fully re-opening around 4.40pm.
Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and our investigation to find out the full circumstances of what happened continues.
“I am appealing for anyone who saw what happened or who has dash-cam footage that could help with our enquiries to get in touch. Please call us on 101, quoting incident number 1379 of Tuesday, December 20, 2022.”
