A man in his 20s was in critical condition in hospital on Friday evening after suffering serious injuries in a horror truck crash at Morisset earlier that afternoon.
The northbound on-ramp of the M1 at Morisset was closed on November 15, and traffic was reduced to a crawl around the crash as emergency services continued their work at the scene.
Police say the driver's pantech and another semi-trailer collided near the Mandalong Road exit just after 1pm, trapping the man around the legs and causing critical injuries. Paramedics arrived as the driver was freed from the wreckage and rushed him to John Hunter Hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured and taken to Wyong for mandatory testing, a police spokesperson said Friday night.
Northbound traffic was banked up for more than 13 kilometres throughout the afternoon as tow trucks arrived just after 4pm to clear the way. Diversions were put in place as drivers were urged to avoid the area. The northbound on-ramp was closed into the evening.
"Ongoing police investigations are expected to take some time," Transport for NSW advised.
