Driver 'critical' after car leaves road and crashes into gardens in Motherwell

Road policing officers are appealing for information following a serious road crash in Motherwell.

The incident happened around 11:10am on Friday (March 18) when a white Vauxhall Mokka travelling north on Bellshill Road left the near Dalriada Crescent, and entered the gardens of neighbouring houses.

Emergency services attended and the road was closed to traffic. It subsequently reopened around 3.30pm.

A 63-year-old man, the driver, was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

No-one else was injured as a result of the crash.

Sergeant Craig McDonald, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit in Motherwell, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash and also anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash with dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation.

“Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident number 1208 of 18 March.”
