A driver was caught wrecking a golf course in his car when he got stuck on the 17th hole.
The club has since issued a warning after the Skoda was seen driving across the course and damaging it for a second time on Monday. Hesketh Golf Club in Southport has sent an email to members, which the ECHO has now seen, which referenced "light damage" done to the 6th green earlier in November but went into detail about more significant damage which was done to the 17th green, 17th fairway and 18th tee.
The email, sent out on Monday, November 21, said: "On both occasions, a male member of the public driving an unregistered left-hand drive silver Skoda estate car entered the course and caused damage with his vehicle. Today, however, he got his vehicle stuck on the 17th hole, meaning we were able to contact the police whilst he was still on site."

The email also confirmed that the work has begun on holes 17 and 18, with both holes remaining closed while further work takes place. A review is also underway into the course's entrances and exits.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm we have arrested a man on suspicion of criminal damage after a car was driven onto Hesketh Golf Club.
"We received a report at around 8am on Monday 21 st November that a silver Skoda had been driven onto the golf course and caused damage to the grass.
"We arrested a 36-year-old man at the scene on suspicion criminal damage and he has been released on conditional bail."
