Traffic problems around Deansgate forced a resident to abandon her car on a side street near her city centre home last week.
The woman, who has asked to stay anonymous, lives in the area and was returning home from a meeting in Cheshire when she hit the Quay Street and Deansgate junction at 5pm last Wednesday (March 1). That evening, Manchester United played at Old Trafford in the FA Cup.
However, the woman says traffic wardens have told her the congestion is a regular occurrence. When the MEN spoke to motorists on Quay Street on Tuesday (March 7), a non-matchday, they reported 40-minute queues to travel down the road out of town.
