Police have evacuated a pub in Everton after a BMW collided into the front of it.
Liverpool Echo reported that Merseyside Police received reports that a black BMW had been driven into the front of May Duncan’s pub on Heyworth Street, on Tuesday, December 6.
After receiving the call at around 8:22pm, officers attended the scene of the crash, alongside crews from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, who helped evacuate the pub.
Upon arrival, police officers promptly closed the street from Breck Road to Hamilton Road, so that they could begin investigation work, urging the public to avoid the area.
It has been confirmed by the police that the crash was damage only, and that no injuries have been reported.
A spokesperson said: "Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at an incident on Heyworth Street in Liverpool. Crews were alerted at 20.37 and two fire engines arrived on scene at 20.42.
"On arrival, crews were met with a car having collided with the front of a building, which is severely damaged. This is a single storey extension to a pub.
"The pub extension has been evacuated and Merseyside Police are also on scene. All persons are out of the vehicle.
"A council structural engineer has been requested and the road has been closed. Fire Service personnel have cordoned off the footpath. Please avoid the area.”
Following investigations and evacuations from the emergency services, a recovery truck attended the scene to remove the black BMW. Pieces of the car’s bodywork and a headlight was left on the floor outside of the pub.
A structural engineer then attended the scene, making the pub safe and boarding it up.
