Drink spikers in Irish bars and nightclubs to face jail under new legislation

Sickos who spike people’s drinks could be jailed for up to 10 years under new legislation being introduced by Fine Gael.

Incidences of drink-spiking where people have been drugged without their knowledge and then taken advantage of have become an established threat on nights out.

Up until now the powers to prosecute the low-life offenders have been limited, but a group of Fine Gael senators have moved to bring in a law establishing a particular offence for spiking a person’s drink, with strict penalties attached, including jail.
