Playmakers may be the perfect cruise ship sports bar especially when its located on the Royal Promenade. When it's that location, it seems like the entire cruise ship gets pulled in when a major sporting event happens.
On Oasis-call ships, Playmakers has been moved to an outside area, the Boardwalk. That's also a heavily traveled spot, but it suffers from being outdoors. That means that on a hot day, you may not stop by for a drink, some wings, and the famed Skillet Cookie unless you have a rooting interest.

Royal Caribbean has also made Playmakers a sort of hidden gem mixology bar. It has a big lineup of beers, but also offers a selection of cocktails.
Most of its cocktails are sports bar versions of classics like the Playmakers Bloody Mart and the drink we're sharing with you, the Goal Post Margarita.
Meet the Goal Post Margarita
Dennis Post of PostCard Travel Planning, Come Cruise With Me's travel agent partner brought us to the Playmakers on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas. He arranged for Jamaie’ from the Phillipines to demonstrate how to make the Goal Post Margarita.
First she places jalapeño peppers and and pineapple in a tall glass which she muddles together. She then fills the glass with ice before adding tequila and triple sec. That gets followed by a jigger of sour mix.
Once all the ingredients are in the glass, she picks up a metal mixing container, puts it over the glass and gives the drink a hearty shake.
Jamaie’ then strains the drink into a tall, salt-rimmed margarita glass already filled with new ice. A skewer of pineapple and jalapeño provides a final touch.
"Wow, that is really good," said Post. "I thought the jalapeño was going to spice it up too much, but this is really a winner.
Goal Post Margarita recipe:
