A drink driver smashed through a line of traffic cones before pulling into a fast food drive-thru for a burger and chips.
Craig Menzies' late night food run cost him £1,000 when he was fined and banned for a year at Perth Sheriff Court on Friday.
The court was told that Menzies was followed by an ambulance crew because they were so concerned by the erratic manner of his driving.
He was seen to plough through numerous cones before pulling into a branch of McDonalds and then parking at Asda to eat his takeaway.
When he was arrested by police, he made five aborted attempts to give a breath specimen before officers eventually gave up trying.
Menzies, 32, from Auchterarder, Scotland, admitted failing to provide two specimens of breath in Perth on April 1 this year.
Fiscal depute Sam Craib told the court: "The crew of an ambulance observed the black Audi driving erratically and saw it hit multiple cones on the road.
"The ambulance crew followed it into the car park at McDonalds and observed him entering the drive-thru. A police unit entered the car park at Asda and found him alone in the driver's seat.
"The accused appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was clearly unsteady on his feet. He had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.
"He initially agreed to provide two breath specimens. He failed on five separate occasions. He appeared to stop blowing when he was asked to continue.
"He stated he didn't understand what he was being asked to do."
Solicitor David Holmes, defending, said: "He works in energy sales. He regrets this very much. There had been the recent ending of a relationship and he changed his social habits.
"He had drunk to excess and gone for something to eat. It was cause inconvenience. He does have an interest in sport that takes him place to place at unusual times."
