Scottish firms could stop selling their goods at home because of the upcoming deposit return scheme, ministers have been warned as hundreds of companies across the food, drink and hospitality sectors called for its introduction to be paused.
By 5pm on Tuesday, 508 industry leaders had put their name to an open letter to Lorna Slater, the minister in the Scottish Government responsible for the proposed new scheme.
These include representatives from the Scottish Hospitality Group, the Scottish Licensed Trade Association, and the Scottish B&B Association, as well as drinks makers and senior figures from Punch Pubs & Co, the Crieff Hydro and Virgin Wines.
