You’ll find mattresses from both brands featured in our best mattress guide for all sleepers and budgets. DreamCloud is one of the leading manufacturers of mattresses in a box, while, Saatva craft traditional mattresses that arrive at your home flat and ready to sleep. Both feature in our guide to the best hybrid mattresses of the year, but which bed is best for your sleep?
In this DreamCloud vs Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress comparison, we’ll look at the design, support and temperature regulation of each mattress to help you decide which one will suit your sleep best. Let’s get started…
DreamCloud vs Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress: Price & Trial
- An evergreen 50% off sale takes a queen size DreamCloud down to $665
- Saatva has regular sales and discounts of between 12-15% on mattresses
- Both mattresses have a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty
Although at full MSRP there’s not a lot of difference between the DreamCloud and the Saatva, the DreamCloud is never sold at full MSRP. Evergreen DreamCloud mattress deals offer around 50% off all sizes, taking a queen down to $665 from its MSRP of $1,613. There’s also the option to add in a heavily discounted bedding bundle, consisting of pillows, sheet set and mattress protector.
Regular Saatva mattress sales mean that you can expect to generally find between 12-15% off the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid, with a queen reduced to between $1,624 and $1,569. However, in the summer and straight after major sales days, you may find the Saatva selling at full MSRP, as it is presently. This means you’ll pay $1,845 for a queen. If you’re not in a rush to purchase, it’s certainly worth bookmarking our sales page to check for discounts.
Extras wise, both mattresses come with a 365-night trial and a lifetime warranty. You’ll get free shipping and returns to your door with the DreamCloud, while the Saatva comes with free white glove delivery to your bedroom, with your old mattress removed at the same time. Saatva do, however, charge $99 for returns.
DreamCloud vs Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress: Materials & Design
- Both the DreamCloud and Saatva are hybrid mattresses
- The DreamCloud is 12” high with six layers and a top and bottom cover
- The Saatva is 11.5” high with five layers and a top cover
The DreamCloud mattress has reduced a little in height since first introduced (it used to be 14” high) but it still offers layers of luxurious comfort and support you'd expect from one of the best mattresses in a box. The mattress starts with a breathable quilted cashmere cover, which helps to wick away moisture. Gel memory foam is also quilted into the cover to give more contouring around pressure points.
Underneath the cover you’ll find a layer of quilted supportive foam, followed by gel memory foam for pressure relief. A transition layer of foam sits on top of the individually wrapped coils, followed by a base layer of high density foam for stability and support. The mattress is finished with a non-slip bottom cover to prevent it sliding about on a bed base.
Starting at the top, Saatva’s cover is made from organic cotton and treated with their Guardin botanical antimicrobial treatment, designed to help prevent bacteria, mold, and mildew. We’d still recommend using a mattress protector to safeguard from spills and stains. Patented lumbar zone quilting gives more lumbar support in the middle third of the mattress.
Next up are two layers of memory foam – a half-inch gel-infused memory foam lumbar crown plus a 1.5-inch layer of ‘waved’ memory foam to create airflow. This is followed by a layer of 8-inch pocketed steel coils with the edges wrapped in high-density foam to provide better edge support. At the base is an inch of support foam to stabilize the mattress.
DreamCloud vs Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress: Support & Comfort
- We rate the DreamCloud mattress at 8/10 for firmness
- The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid is rated at 7.5-8/10
- You’ll lie on top of both mattresses, rather than sinking in
In our DreamCloud mattress review we rated the mattress highly for helping with aches and pains, making it one of our top picks in our best mattresses for back pain. DreamCloud suggest a firmness rating of 6.5/10, but all our testers felt it was much firmer and nearer to 8/10. This firmer feel means it’s particularly suited to stomach and back sleepers, who need firmer support to keep their hips lifted and spines aligned.
As you’d imagine from a mattress that’s good for back pain, the DreamCloud adapts quickly to the lumbar region, offering superb pressure relief. Lightweight side sleepers may find the mattress too firm, as there isn’t a lot of sinkage, but other side sleepers found the mattress comfortable after they’d allowed time for the bed to mold to their bodies a little.
As you’d expect from a high-end brand such as Saatva, the Memory Foam Hybrid offers a support and comfortable sleep for a variety of sleepers. The mattress is available in one firmness, which Saatva classify as a medium. But in our Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid mattress review, our testers felt the mattress was medium firm, rating it at 7.5-8/10.
The mattress offers responsive support, pushing back against the body to keep the spine aligned in any sleeping position. Using the same patented lumbar support you’ll find in the Saatva RX (the brand’s mattress specifically designed for chronic back pain), the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid is another excellent choice for those suffering with aches and pains. Again though, lighter side sleepers may find this mattress a little too firm and lacking in plushness at pressure points.
DreamCloud vs Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress: Temperature Regulation
- The DreamCloud has a breathable cover, gel memory foam and coils to promote air flow.
- The Saatva’s combination of gel memory foam and coils makes this an excellent choice for hot sleepers.
- Both mattresses do a good job of keeping sleepers cool
Even our hottest testers found the DreamCloud comfortable at night, with the mattress doing a great job of keeping them cool. The mattress has a breathable cashmere cover along with well-spaced coils to promote airflow, combined with a gel-infused layer to help dissipate body heat.
Although the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid uses memory foam, it's again infused with gel to help dissipate heat. There's also the brand's AirCradle foam with breathable air pockets, a cotton cover to wick away moisture and coils to add to the airflow.
