Laugharne is a Welsh town known for many things including the patchwork of pretty properties that are a delight to discover as you wander around the small, winding lanes. The location is a winner too, nestled next to the River Taf estuary before it flows into Carmarthen Bay and close to the beautiful beaches of Pembrokeshire, G ower and nearby Pembrey and Pendine Sands.
The town has its own castle as well as characterful places to stay and a variety of places to stuff your face with the finest local food on offer, from friendly cafes to fish and chips, from fine dining to top notch pub grub, Laugharne can cater for most tastes and budgets.
The town is also home to a special house called Seaview, now owned by writer, poet and singer and songwriter in the band Kosheen Sian Evans who lets out some of the rooms to visitors. Find out how Sian fell in love with Seaview and felt compelled to own it here.

Seaview is well-known as one of the landmark buildings in Laugharne as it was once owned by famous Welsh poet and writer Dylan Thomas, and was particularly loved by his wife Caitlyn. Of the collection of famous buildings in this Carmarthenshire town, the most visited and most admired is Dylan Thomas' boathouse and writing shed, attracting thousands of tourists to the site every year.
Surely there's no question that Thomas must have been inspired by the remarkable and mesmerising water views that stretch out from this amazing property, with his writing shed nestled into the hillside just above the main house that has a panoramic vista of three estuaries.
No doubt then that this tiny patch of Wales is truly unique both in its history and in its idyllic location. The boathouse is open to the public and still has a connection to the famous writer, with his granddaughter Hannah Ellis an ambassador for his work and a regular visitor to the property.
So there's no chance of buying the boathouse as a private home which is good to know, but there is a chance of sharing that incredible and famous view as one of neighbouring homes has come on to the market for the first time in decades. This dream home for sale is a once in a generation chance to buy a slice of famous real estate and embed yourself into the landscape and views that once so captivated Dylan Thomas.
Above the estuary and directly behind Dylan Thomas' boathouse and writing shed site is the impressively handsome Cliff House, that emerges from the surrounding trees and greenery to command attention.
The magnificent family home sits within a private plot of just under half an acre that is a sanctuary of spectacular views and spacious living, with the mansion sprawling across three floors and amounting to around 5,000 square feet.
Hidden behind private gates is a garden of landscaped terraces that offer multiple spots to park yourself and truly immerse yourself in the expansive landscape that stretches out before you - it is truly remarkable and surely one of the best waterside views and locations in Wales.
There is a collection of peaceful and private pockets of lawn surrounded by mature trees and shrubs that cocoon you in nature as one of the alfresco options, or you could just stumble out of any of the river facing rooms on the first floor and onto the balcony that stretches across the width of the house.
Arriving by car is no problem - there's plenty of parking space plus a garage on the ground floor. But arriving by boat is surely more exciting, and is said to be the way Dylan Thomas first arrived at the town by stepping off the ferry directly below you, and this mode of transport is not a problem either as the property has its own mooring.
The ground floor of the mansion is mainly dedicated to the garage and a laundry room. It's the first floor where the views really mesmerise you from the elevated position above the garden terrace, and on this level you will find a sitting room, dining room, and kitchen and breakfast room - all of these lucky spaces can boast a beautiful view across the water.
Up to the second floor and the principal bedroom will stun with direct views of the water from the pillows and an ensuite and dressing room adding to this room's star status as a special space. This level also contains two more bedrooms, a bathroom and a handy storeroom.
The top floor is currently a self-contained two bedroom apartment that has its own reception area, sitting room, kitchen diner, and bathroom - lucky granny or younger member of the family who gets to call this space home.
As a future family home that is a unique property proposition Cliff House is an enviable contender if you have around £2.5m to spend, and the interiors can be viewed via the estate agent if you do have this buying budget.
But the past of the house is engaging too - it might not be at the same level as Dylan Thomas' boathouse but according to website Coflein, Cliff House is said to be the property where Kingsley Amis wrote 'The Old Devils' in 1986 and this is still a very impressive slice of literary history. The past has had some trauma too, with the website saying that this early to mid 19th century house suffered a fire in 1983.
Cwtched next to the river bank and overlooking one of the most special estuary views in Wales is not a new concept recently delivered to the lucky owners at Cliff House and Dylan Thomas' boathouse, it seems that this location has been deemed special for thousands of years.
Just along the riverbank and at the bridge of the hill can be found the remains of an Iron Age structure now classed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument by Cadw because of its 'national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric domestic and defensive practices. The monument is an important relic of the prehistoric landscape'.
So now you could be lucky enough to join the very select few people who have been blessed to call this location home since iron age times, with the rare chance to buy a property on this remarkable river bank.
Cliff House is for sale for offers in the region of £2.5m with Fine and Country Pembrokeshire, call them on 01834 862138 to find out more. And don't miss the best dream homes in Wales, renovation stories and interiors, join the Amazing Welsh Homes newsletter, sent to your inbox twice a week.
