The long way back to the field ends tonight. The 49ers (6-7) activated Greenlaw from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List (PUP) ahead of tonight’s game with the Rams (7-6).
Greenlaw has not played since the freak accident in last year’s Super Bowl. Greenlaw ruptured his Achilles running onto the field for a defensive series.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 49ers will “ease” back into action on Thursday’s game.
After being picked in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Greenlaw has become one of the anchors of the 49ers’ defense. Greenlaw and Fred Warner form one of the top linebacker tandems in the league.
Greenlaw is a tackling machine, with at least 120 tackles in each of the past two seasons.
