The question of whom the best player in NBA history is always a delicious debate, with strong opinions and fervent emotions often part of the conversation.
Most observers will either choose Michael Jordan or LeBron James, but for Draymond Green, the answer is pretty clear, and it’s not either of those two.
The Warriors forward believes his teammate, Stephen Curry, has the edge as the best player ever, and it’s largely due to his level of confidence.
“It’s way different,” Green said, via ESPN’s Nick Friedell. “But I think one of the most unique things about Steph is like—we all argue like, ‘Oh, is [Michael] Jordan the GOAT? Does LeBron [James] dethrone him? Whoever your guy is, who you think is the GOAT. Everyone debates it. There’s no debate. [Steph] is the greatest. So that confidence runs different. But I think we all here in this world know, there’s no debate. He’s the greatest–and that’s a special thing.”
It’s not a surprise that Green thinks that highly of Curry, as he’s played his entire career alongside the superstar guard, and the pair have won four NBA championships together. Curry is considered by many to be the best shooter in NBA history as well, and that elite skill is enough to at least put him into the conversation.
Still, Green putting Curry above everybody else in NBA history is extremely high praise, even if almost nobody knows Curry as well as his longtime teammate.
