Draymond Green grateful to survive the trade deadline

The Golden State Warriors didn’t make the big swing at the trade deadline that many expected. Instead, they made a small move to open a second roster spot, sending Cory Joseph to the Indiana Pacers. Outside of that, it was an uneventful day for the franchise.

During a recent episode of the “Draymond Green Show,” the veteran forward noted how he was grateful to survive another trade deadline. He also noted how it sucked to lose Joseph, who had made a big impression within the locker room.

“I survived my 12th trade deadline, which is an exciting and amazing feeling because you just never know,” Green said. “You can be as certain as you wanna be until you are not, so I’m excited about that.”

Green has endured a difficult season. He has been suspended on two occasions. He came into the season nursing an injury that kept him out of the Warriors preseason schedule. However, since returning to the rotation, he’s been a big part of the roster’s improved performances.

Steve Kerr is using Green as a small-ball center in his new-look frontcourt. That trio’s defense and overall mobility have helped improve the overall intensity of the Warriors’ approach to games. As such, he likely wasn’t at risk of being traded at the deadline. If he continues to perform at his current level, he will likely remain with the franchise until the end of his career.
