Dramatic new claims about the mid-air fight that ended Brad Pitt’s marriage to Angelina Jolie were today revealed in a leaked FBI report, including allegations he accused her of having a child who “looked like a f***ing Columbine kid”.
The report also contains allegations by Jolie that Pitt punched a hole in the ceiling of the jet they were flying in, grabbed her by the head and shoulders, shook her and tried to stop her leaving while delivering a furious outburst.
She claimed that he also poured beer on her, left her feeling “like a hostage” on board and that she received injuries to her back and elbow as well as a “rug-burn type wound” on her hand, telling the FBI that her then husband had behaved like “a monster” throughout the September 2016 flight to Los Angeles airport. Jolie filed for divorce days later, but Pitt has always denied all accusations against him and no charges were brought over the alleged clash.
The pair have since been locked in a custody battle over their six children, as well as a dispute over the sale by Jolie of her share of a vineyard that they owned.
Today’s new details were revealed by US media as they named Jolie as the plaintiff behind an anonymous lawsuit filed against the FBI seeking the agency’s investigative file on the case. The filing states the aim as seeking a “better understanding” of the FBI’s investigation and to gain “information necessary for her children to receive medical care and trauma counselling” and has resulted in the release of a summary containing the allegations made by Jolie.
According to the report, Jolie said that she and her children were on the flight and she “could tell that (redacted) was mad”, seemingly referring to Pitt. She said when asked what was wrong, he allegedly replied: “That kid looks like a f***ing Columbine kid” — in an apparent reference to the 1999 school massacre.
Federal prosecutors announced five weeks after the flight that Pitt would not be charged as it had been “agreed by all parties that criminal charges ... would not be pursued”. US media reported that sources said to be close to Pitt claimed the lawsuit to obtain the release of today’s details had only been brought to bring publicity to Jolie’s accusations.
