Dramatic moment girl, 3, is dragged away by wild monkey while playing by herself

This is the shocking moment a three-year-old girl was dragged across the road by a wild monkey while playing by herself.

CCTV footage showed the girl playing in front of her home in Chongquing, China, on April 19, when a monkey nearly as tall as her suddenly came from behind and dragged her off.

A neighbour called Liu, who managed to rescue the girl, said he was just sitting at home when he heard the girl's screams from outside the next door house.

Her rushed outside to see the monkey dragging the young girl away and responded by rushing after the monkey and grabbing the girl from its clutches, newsflare reports.

Footage shows the girl playing outside in the street with her scooter. She's happily minding her own business when the burley monkey comes up behind her, jumps on her back and grabs her.

The monkey then drags the girl along the floor, and the video shows Liu running out from his home across the street quickly to rescue her.

It's thought the wild monkey came down from the mountain which sits about 40 to 50 metres away from where the incident happened.

Police, forestry authorities and the local village committee all rushed around trying to find the wild monkey, but the creature couldn't be located.

Speaking to Beijing Youth Daily, the Chengkou county government said: “We think there is a group of wild monkeys in the mountains nearby, but the exact number is not clear.
