Dramatic footage shows cops stun gun topless man in Glasgow street

Dramatic footage has emerged of a topless man being hit with a stun gun by cops on a Glasgow street.

The man, wearing only grey tracksuit bottoms and trainers, can be seen staggering in the middle of Glassford Street in the city, with two cops in close attendance.

He then appears to be hit with a shot from the electronic restraint and falls to the ground with a cry as the two officers close in on him.

The footage, which was shared five days ago on social media, shows the male officer shouting at the man before firing the stun gun.

After the man falls, the officer adds: "Down on the ground, do not move," while the man appears to writhe in pain.

The officer then warns: "I'll re-energise if you try and move".

Two cops initially attended the scene of the disturbance (UGC)

The female officer crouches down to knee-level and appears to handcuff the troublemaker.

Moments later, the male officer once again tells the man he will "re-energise" the stun gun if he continues to resist, to which the man on the ground responds "I'll f***ing shoot you".

The policewoman warns the man and appears to attempt to lift the man off the ground.

The man moans " ah, ya b*****d" and appears unable to move.

The rest of his speech is illegible.

Sirens can be heard screeching in the background as a blue-lit police van with more cops arrives on the scene to support the officers containing the man.

At least two cops can be seen running towards the incident, as the handcuffed man continues to protest.

It is unclear whether the area was cordoned off while police contained the man (UGC)

It is unclear when the incident took place and if cops locked down the street following the disturbance, although passers-by can be seen videoing the encounter.

Police Scotland were contacted for comment but were unable to locate any reports of this nature on the date the video was posted.
