Five-time Grammy award-winning recording artist Drake has admitted that he has always been a Cristiano Ronaldo fan after being asked to choose between the former Manchester United player and Paris Saint-Germain's Lionel Messi.
The rapper, who has been previously photographed wearing Manchester City and United colours over the years, was posed the question during an impromptu video call with YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed. Speed's admiration for Ronaldo is a recurring theme in his content, and even saw the teenager travel to the United Kingdom for a pair of United matches in late 2022 in the hope of seeing the player live, but Ronaldo was benched during both games.
In Speed's latest stream, the American direct messaged Drake on Instagram before proceeding to video call the Canadian. The rapper accepted the call and, during a two-minute conversation, was asked: "Ronaldo or Messi?"

Pausing for a moment before replying, Drake answered: “Ah man, that's a sticky one. For me, probably Ronaldo, to be honest.
“But I know that’s probably not gonna go over well. I know it’s Messi’s moment right now, but for me, I’ve just always been a Ronaldo fan. I’m like you.”
'Messi's moment' no doubt refers to the player winning the World Cup with Argentina late last year. For former United player and one-time teammate of Ronaldo's Gerard Pique, Messi's performances at that tournament 'showed' that the player can still be considered the best in the world.
Pique picked Messi over Ronaldo earlier this month due to the former being more talented while acknowledging the hard work the latter has put in to compete and fight to be the world's best. The recently retired defender, who is one of a select few to have played with and against each of the two, also added that when comparing their two respective careers, then Messi comes out on top for him.
