St George Illawarra player Zac Lomax said he is unfazed by an encounter with a pitch invader during his team's Anzac Day loss to the Sydney Roosters, but has backed calls for more security at NRL games.

In the last five minutes of the Dragons' 27-26 loss to the Sydney Roosters on Tuesday, a man ran onto the field and appeared to hug the Dragons Centre before he was restrained by security.

The 23-year-old player downplayed any concerns for his wellbeing, but supported the bolstering of security at games.

"There has been a lot said about it but to be honest it has been blown out of proportion.

"Ideally you would probably want security guards there that end up stopping him before it gets to that point … I reckon the security has to be taken up a notch.

"In regards to how I feel about it, it is no skin off my nose."

The incident has reignited debate about risks posed to players from spectators and caused several NRL players to speak up.

Roosters star James Tedesco described the interactions as dangerous and said security should be doing more to stop spectators coming into contact with players.

Dragons captain Ben Hunt said he also supported an increase in security presence but acknowledge, the challenges of stopping people running onto the field.

"You can't put 1,000 security around the fence," he said.

"You've just got to be aware of them when they come."

The Anzac Day defeat was the Dragons' third loss in a row and resulted in the joint venture slipping to 14th on the ladder.

Lomax said the team was familiar with the scrutiny associated with poor form, but said the players were concentrating on turning their season around.

"It has definitely been hard, especially when there has been so much attention on us, which is the way that it always seems to go," he said.

"We tend not to look into that too much it is just we have to win more games of footy and that is our focus."
