Dragons' Den star Sara Davies helps launch new Monopoly game that teaches young kids about money

Dragons' Den star Sara Davies has helped to launch a new edition of Monopoly which aims to teach young children about money.

County Durham -born Sara, who wowed Strictly Come Dancing fans during the last series of the talent show, has featured in a special video in which she tries out the game with young players.

My First Monopoly Game features a double-sided gameboard with two levels of play, so you can decide which level is right for the whole family. Each level has its own set of money and cards, as well as rules.

One side is recommended for children aged four to five, focusing on counting and matching, while the other side is more advanced, suited for kids aged six and up focusing on reading and simple math.

Instead of Mayfair and Park Lane, players compete to own child-friendly properties such as a waterpark, pizza restaurant and zoo. The tongue-in-cheek video sees Sara quiz her competitors on their business credentials and what qualifies them to own particular establishments, before executing the deal and handing over the deeds.

Anne Leonhardi, marketing director for North Europe at Hasbro, said: "Parents can play a vital role in financial education by talking to their children about money. My First Monopoly gives children the chance to put mental arithmetic in practice outside the classroom and pick up vital money skills in a fun and playful way."

My First Monopoly is available to purchase from Smyths Toys for £21.99.
