Two drag performers have criticised a Manchester bar and restaurant after they claimed they were refused entry because they were dressed in ‘fancy dress’ during Manchester Pride.
Yshee Black and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Ginny Lemon both visited Revolución de Cuba on Peter Street in drag on Saturday afternoon (August 27) when they said the incident happened.
Fellow drag artist Fatt Butcher tweeted about the incident in a post which highlighted how the venue is situated within the route for today’s earlier Pride parade.

The tweet from the Birmingham-based performer wrote: “So @RevsDeCuba just refused service to @GinnyLemon69 and @ysheeblack for being in FANCY DRESS.
“A venue literally on the Manchester pride parade route who will be taking SO MUCH money from our communities and tourism today refused service to two queer artists. Trash. Boycott.”
All three artists are based in the Midlands and all performed at Manchester Pride yesterday. Ginny responded to the original tweet by posting: “Not @RevsDeCuba not letting us in because we were in drag! PURE AND UTTER DISCRIMINATION! SHAME ON YOU! Not the best way to start our @ManchesterPride.
“They said no fancy dress!!! I say GO F*** YOURSELF! P.s we are stone cold sober and very polite! Such a shame! AVOID!”
In a further tweet, Ginny added: "Also @RevsDeCuba why are you displaying the pride flag if you are going to discriminate against those people that flag is for??? SHAMEFUL PRIDE EXPLOITATION!!! GET IN THE BIN."
Yshee did not directly comment online about the incident, but has retweeted tweets from both Fatt and Ginny.
A spokesperson from Revolution Bars Group told the M.E.N: "We are extremely disappointed to hear about what has happened in our Manchester bar and are currently conducting a thorough investigation with our security team into exactly what happened.
"We will be inviting Ginny Lemon, Fatt Butcher and Yshee Black back to the bar and they will be welcomed with open arms and receive a full apology from our team. We are proud to be an inclusive company and to celebrate Pride events across the UK.”
