A drag artist was attacked in a bar in King Street, Nottingham city centre. Justin Davies-Train, 33, of Tavistock Drive, Mapperley Park, was said to have knocked the artist's wig off and put his face in the wig on February 10 this year.
The details were heard as Davies-Train pleaded guilty to assaulting the artist by beating. Attending Nottingham Magistrates' Court before District Judge Leo Pyle, it was alleged he made comments to the artist - which he denies.
The court heard he accepted he made contact but did not make unsavoury comments. The judge ordered a Newton hearing. This happens when a defendant has pleaded guilty to an offence, but, on the basis of a different version of facts from that of the prosecution, and the court has concluded that the factual differences would make a material difference to the sentence imposed.

"It's all about which version the defendant is to be sentenced on," said Judge Pyle on Thursday (September 8). "The prosecution have to prove their version of events without reasonable doubt." The hearing will take place on December 12.
