Dr Alex George, a former Love Islander turned mental health campaigner, has taken a swipe at his fellow Love Islanders. While revealing why he left his role as a A&E doctor, Alex spoke about how he only works with brands he believes in.
Dr Alex, who appeared in the 2018 series of Love Island and was unlucky in love, has now left his role as a A&E doctor to focus solely on his mental health campaigns. In February 2021 Dr Alex was made Youth Mental Health Ambassador by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, after the tragic death of his younger brother Llyr who took his own life.
At the time Dr Alex was still working as a A&E doctor in a hospital in London and ended up leaving his role as he became burnt out. Dr Alex explained he could not manage his role as Youth Mental Health Ambassador and being a A&E doctor and "something had to give" leading to him leaving the medical profession.
He went on to explain how he now makes money and told viewers that now he does not have "guaranteed pay". Dr Alex spoke about his brand deals, which earn him money, and stressed that he only works for brands he believes in saying he refuses 90% of the work.
The 31-year-old also took a swipe at his fellow Love Islanders and their brand work, he said: "I'm very very fortunate to work with amazing brands, I only work with brands I believe in their products, I say no to 90%, I don't do standing on stages pouring alcohol in peoples mouths for money."
This comment appears to be a swipe at former Love Islanders as many tour clubs and bars around the UK making appearances where the public pay to see them. The 2022 series of Love Island is set to return in June, with many believing it will start on Monday, June, 6.
Recently Dr Alex has come under fire for buying four holiday cottages in Pembrokeshire. He faced backlash and even "threats of violence" as many disagreed with him owning so many second homes.
