Dozens of Wirral parks bag top global prize

Wirral Keep Britain Tidy

More than 30 green spaces in Wirral have gained international recognition this week.

Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy announced yesterday that Green Flag Awards had been given to 33 parks and open spaces across the borough. The award is the international mark of quality for parks.

Birkenhead Park, and Port Sunlight Village which is managed by Port Sunlight Village Trust, have also achieved the Green Heritage Site Accreditation, supported by Historic England, for the management of their historic features. Additionally, New Ferry Butterfly Park, managed by Cheshire Wildlife Trust, was awarded the Green Flag Community Award, bringing the total awards in Wirral to 33.
