Dozens of jobs would be created if plans for a new Nottingham car showroom are approved. Vacant land at the NG2 Business Park on Enterprise Way, Nottingham would be transformed into a new Volvo showroom and workshop if Nottingham City Council approves the plans.
The company's existing facility on Valley Road in Basford has accommodated a number of different automotive brands since its construction. Having been occupied by Volvo for a number of years, the business has now "outgrown the facility", with constrained space on site and limited facilities within the building.
The new Volvo dealership would create 30 new full time jobs and neighbour Jaguar Land Rover and Mercedes car dealerships. The existing building will be repurposed for a brand "better suited in scale and volume to the premises available", according to planning documents.

Whilst Volvo staff at Valley Road will transfer to the new showroom if it is approved, new positions will be created in both sales and aftersales roles. It is believed the business which would move into the vacated Valley Road site would employ a similar number of staff as Volvo currently does.
There would be 67 parking spaces for display cars, 20 for customers and an additional 120 back of house spots. The plans also outline a five car Volvo showroom for new car display and a seven bay Volvo workshop with additional MOT bay.
In a planning document, SRA Architects on behalf of Marshall Motor Holdings PLC, said: "The new Volvo dealership will create circa 30 new FTE jobs.
"Whilst the existing Volvo staff will transfer from Valley Road, there will be additional positions created in both sales and aftersales roles. It is envisaged that the existing building will continue to employ a similar number of staff as currently does, albeit representing a different brand; hence the net gain in employment positions."
