The Tailteann Cup has reached the knockout stage and Down will be hoping to reach the quarter-final at the expense of Longford this weekend.
Conor Laverty’s side went into last Saturday’s clash with Meath needing only a draw to top Group Two, but some poor finishing saw them slip to a two-point defeat to the Royals at Parnell Park.
Longford suffered a 2-13 to 1-14 loss to Carlow in Portlaoise last Saturday and finished third in Group Three.
Earlier in the season, Longford were relegated from Division Three and lost out by five points when they faced the Mournemen in Round Six.
