Douglas Ross has been urged to attend a vote on whether an investigation should be carried out into claims that Boris Johnson misled parliament over covid lockdown breaches.
The Scottish Conservative leader is set to miss the crucial vote which would refer the Prime Minister to the Commons privileges committee.
Instead of being at Westminster Ross will be campaigning in central Scotland for the council elections on May 5 then attending First Ministers Questions at Holyrood where he will face Nicola Sturgeon in the Chamber.
SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford said Ross should be in London for the vote to hold the PM to account over the scandal.
He said: "He (Douglas Ross) has to be answerable to his own electorate, but this is the situation that he has got himself into.
"He's an MP in Westminster and an MSP in the Scottish Parliament., but this is a serious matter.
"I think Douglas Ross has been all over the place, that's because he seems to think that the Prime Minister has got questions to answer, but he's not prepared to vote tomorrow to make sure that this prime minister is held to account.
"The Prime Minister undermines democracy.
"When you've got someone that behaves in this way, is cavalier in his approach, he is not fit for office, someone that's not fit for purpose to be Prime Minister.
"Douglas Ross should be there to vote making sure this man is held to account properly by the privileges committee."
The Tory leader in Scotland has faced another bruising week after Labour leader Keir Starmer branded him "pathetic" for his U-turn to now back Johnson over partygate.
The Moray MP was one of the first to call for the PM to resign earlier this year after he admitted he was at a gathering in Downing Street during the covid lockdown.
Ahead of the Scottish Conservative Party conference in March Ross changed his view and revealed he now wanted Johnson to remain in place due to the war in Ukraine.
During a fiery exchange in the Commons yesterday Starmer hit out at Ross, he said: “The public has made up their mind. They don’t believe a word the Prime Minister says, they know what he is.
"Those close to him find themselves ruined. Good ministers forced to walk away from public service, and the leader of the Scottish Conservatives rendered pathetic.”
"This isn’t a glitch. This is what he does, this is who he is. He knows he is dishonest so he drags people down with him."
A Scottish Conservatives spokesperson said: “As leader of the opposition in The Scottish Parliament, Douglas will be holding Nicola Sturgeon to account at First Minister’s Questions on Thursday.
“After FMQs he will be out on the doorstep campaigning ahead of the council elections, listening to the concerns of voters.”
