Douglas Park exit sparks Rangers finance fears and only Man United are in Celtic's league for global appeal - Hotline

The bookies have made their minds up about how this weekend’s Old Firm clash will go, along with swathes of Celtic supporters.

Hoops punters are confident Ange Postecoglou’s men can take a huge step towards the title by opening up a 12 point gap on their rivals. But some Gers fans have the battle fever and are looking to rally the troops. Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, said: “All you hear is Rangers can't win at Parkhead from the media, the pundits and the fans even former Rangers great Richard Gough does not give them not much hope.

“Sometimes when everything is against you and your backs against the wall that's when you're most dangerous. Rangers won't lay down there, they are coming to win, whatever it takes. Gers have a player of quality in Todd Cantwell a playmaker who finds space and can control games, maybe he's the key for Rangers to win.”

But Graham Taylor, Airdrie, said: “I'm sick and tired of the unrest in the Rangers board. The week we are playing that other mob, Douglas Park decides to walk. Financially we are a mess and with so many players out of contract the future looks grim. I have to admit I fear the worst for Saturday.”

There’s been some European finger pointing in Glasgow ahead of the derby. Robert McEwan, Mount Vernon, said: “See these guys in Hotline going on about Celtic’s record in Champions League. Your team has the worst record ever in the big cup and you will have that record for a long time.”

Henry Moffat, Stirling, said: “What a laugh reading George Wilson's latest gag about Celtic’s Champions League stats over the last 20 years. I would suggest he takes three minutes to read the full Rangers history pamphlet because we have beaten Juventus, Barcelona, AC Milan, Man Utd and twice made the last 16 while Rangers have never beaten a big name in it.”

Eddie Easson Ballingry, said: “The usual hot airers on here. Let's get it straight neither Rangers or Celtic are possible Champions League Winners. Both clubs just want to be there.

“Rangers have to beat Celtic on Saturday to have a microscopic chance of getting there so they won't park the bus. This will give Celtic space to torture Connor Goldson and Co."

Jim McClean Rothesay, said: “Got to laugh at George Wilson’s comment saying it is a two horse race in Scotland. I would say it has been a one horse race here for years.”

Rangers' Malik Tillman (L) and Celtic's Reo Hatate (SNS Group)

Celtic have a few injury worries and David Bryce, Troon, said: “With it looking increasingly likely that the brilliant Hatate will miss the Rangers game, Ange must play David Turnbull. If Taylor misses out I’d seriously worry about Alexandro Bernabei up against Fashion Sakala. Daizen Meada has been poor recently, however he would have to play in order to offer protection down that flank.”

Twelve EPL managers have gone this season and it seems Ange Postecoglou has been linked with replacing every one of them. But Tam Williamson, Lanarkshire, said: “Why would Ange go to a minor club in the EPL when everyone including Gers fans know that only Man Utd are in the same category as Celtic worldwide?”

Meanwhile, pundit Andy Walker sparked a row with his claims he heard VAR officials looking for an ‘easy way out’ of a big call. But Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: “Surely Walker's position at SKY is untenable now , he’s clearly breached his employers trust with his VAR claim.”

At least there won’t be any VAR controversy this weekend…
