This initiative comes at a critical juncture, as the federal government's shutdown threatens to suspend SNAP benefits for more than 40 million Americans— including children and seniors—starting 1 November. DoorDash describes its programme as a temporary, stop-gap measure to alleviate the immediate hardship caused by potential benefit cuts.
