Donald Trump, Zelenskyy discuss Patriot production, Russia peace talks at White House

US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a closed-door meeting at the White House on Tuesday, focusing on expanding Ukraine's defence capabilities, including the production of Patriot missile interceptors, and efforts to revive stalled peace talks with Russia.

The meeting in the Oval Office, held ahead of the funeral of late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, came weeks after Trump announced at the Nato summit in Ankara that the US would grant Ukraine a licence to manufacture Patriot air defence systems — a long-standing request from Kyiv.

After the talks, Zelenskyy described the meeting as "good" and thanked Trump for the US administration's continued support.

"The President and I discussed licenses for Patriot interceptor production and several other ideas that could help. We also spoke about diplomacy — it’s important that the diplomatic process be reinvigorated," Zelenskyy said in a post on social media.
