If you look up the definition of a 'sore loser' in the dictionary, then you may find a photo of Donald Trump.
While it's still not clear as to whether the Republicans or Democrats have come out on top during the US Midterm elections, the only thing that is clear is that Trump is the real loser.
The former President, who still refuses to admit he lost out to Joe Biden back in 2020, is clutching at straws in trying to claim that it has been a "very big victory" from his personal standpoint.
On his Truth Social platform, boastful Trump is trying to claim credit for "219 wins and 16 losses" for the candidates he backed in the elections.
But it appears to be a very different story behind-the-scenes-, with the former The Apprentice boss going into meltdown and turning on those closest to him, including his own wife.
And 'Toxic Trump' has even been dubbed "the most profound vote repellant in modern American history".
Americans were voting to decide who sits in the House of Representatives and the Senate, with the Republicans set to take the House from the Democrats.
The Midterms pretty much always swing towards the opposition party, but President Biden will be pleased that the speculated 'red wave' has not materialised and the Senate battle remains on a knife-edge.
Trump himself was not on the ballot for the Midterms, but he has been heavily involved in campaigning for the Republican party and has backed a number of candidates.
On Truth Social, he wrote: "While in certain ways yesterday’s election was somewhat disappointing, from my personal standpoint it was a very big victory - 219 WINS and 16 Losses in the General - Who has ever done better than that?"
Slamming the 'Fake News Media', he added: "So many of the people I Endorsed went on to victory on Tuesday Night, nobody was even close, and they literally make up a story refusing to write the facts, and only quoting enemies and losers."
While it's true that many were successful, what Trump has failed to acknowledge is that he's had some unexpected and very high-profile losses, which have put a massive dent in his hopes to run for President in 2024.
In the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, Trump-backed candidate Dr Mehmet Oz lost his Senate race to Democrat John Fetterman.
But rather than accept he backed the wrong horse, or possibly hindered him, Trump is now blaming his close cirle and wife Melania for pushing him to support the failed candidate.
New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman tweeted: "Trump is indeed furious this morning, particularly about Mehmet Oz, and is blaming everyone who advised him to back Oz -- including his wife, describing it as not her best decision, according to people close to him."
She also claimed that Trump is being advised to reschedule his big announcement next week, where he is expected to announce his desire to run for President, but he knows to do so would acknowledge he is "wounded".
Trump's influence was clearly not enough, or actually sent voters towards the Democrats, so it's left Republicans second-guessing his political instincts.
At the time of writing, it's too close to call for governor in Arizona, with Republican candidate Kari Lake said to be under consideration for Trump's running mate as vice-president if he decides to run.
"Tonight's results lie squarely at the feet of Donald J Trump," a Republican strategist who wanted to remain anonymous told The Independent.
"Had he not endorsed extremely flawed candidates in the primary, we would be having an amazing night tonight. Instead, we are losing very winnable races."
New Yok post columnist John Podhoretz, who has coined the nickname 'Toxic Trump', blamed the former President for elevating "cringe-inducing boot-lickers".
"What Tuesday night’s results suggest is that Trump is perhaps the most profound vote repellant in modern American history," he wrote.
"The surest way to lose in these midterms was to be a politician endorsed by Trump. This is not hyperbole."
Republican Tudor Dixon won Trumps' endorsement by claiming the 2020 election was stolen, but lost the Michican governor's race - and the same thing happened in Pennyslvania to governor hopeful Doug Mastriano.
Former NFL player Herschel Walker was picked for the Republicans despite their doubts, because Trump refused to endorse or campaign for Brian Kemp because he wouldn’t illegally overturn Georgia's vote.
Walker lost, as it looks like Blake Masters will in the Arizona governor battle, who was only chosen because Trump blasted Republican Doug Ducey for not illegally overturning the 2022 election results in Arizona.
Doug Heye, a former Republican National Committee spokesperson, said that Trump held some blame but there were other larger factors.
Other reports have suggested Trump is "screaming" and "livid" at the results, but his spokesperson insisted this as "completely fake".
They said: "Out of the races that have been called, President Trump has racked up over 215 wins for his endorsements - a truly unprecedented accomplishment and something only possible because of President Trump's ability to pick and elect winners."
However, what is most concerning for Trump is the resounding success of Ron DeSantis, who looks set to rival him to be the Republican representative in the 2024 presidential race.
Mr DeSantis won a landslide victory in the Midterms, underlining his popularity, but Trump told Fox News that his possible opponent should stay out of the race.
"I don't know if he is running. I think if he runs, he could hurt himself very badly. I really believe he could hurt himself badly," Mr Trump said. "I don't think it would be good for the party."
Bitter Trump has ow branded him 'Ron DeSanctimonious' and vowed to reveal "things about him that won't be very flattering - I know more about him than anybody - other than, perhaps, his wife".
Although he later denied a feud, claiming DeSantis is a "fine guy" but adding: "There's not a tiff with me, and I'm way up in the polls."
Patrick Ruffini, a Republican pollster and strategist, described Mr Trump as a "wounded animal" to the BBC when compared to Mr DeSantis' very good election night.
Even Republicans who were back Trump are now siding with DeSantis, including Mike Cernovich, a right-wing commentator who was once described by Politico as an "indefatigable Trump cheerleader".
"Trump has zero shot at 2024 in general. After tonight, this isn't up for debate," Mr Cernovich tweeted on Tuesday night. "DeSantis in 2024 or accept total defeat".
It wasn't a total washout for Trump, as he did get the clear victory of JD Vance in the Ohio Senate race.
Iff the Republicans get the House then they could dismantle the committee investigating the 6 January 2021 riot, which has been looking to assign blame to Trump.
"That'll probably be dismantled," said Grant Reeher, a political science professor at Syracuse University, referring to the select committee. "He'll claim that vindicates him."
The most concerning thing for Trump will be whether the Midterms have an impact on his "very big announcement" next week.
Trump previously said he would "very, very, very probably" run again and would be formalising his intentions "very, very soon."
