When Donald Trump announced he was making a US presidency bid in 2024 - he was joined on stage by members of his family. But there was a very noticeable absence.

The 76-year-old confirmed he is running to be the Republican candidate in two years time during a speech at his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida.

"In order to make America great and glorious again. I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States," Trump said while flanked by 'Make America Great Again'.
