Donald Trump Health Rumours: Swollen Ankles and Chronic Venous Insufficiency Observed at the Ceremony

Photographs of Donald Trump at the Pentagon’s 9/11 ceremony renewed attention on his chronic venous insufficiency, despite a May report saying his leg swelling had improved (Credit: President Donald J. Trump/Instagram)

President Donald Trump's health drew renewed online attention on Friday after photographs from the 25th anniversary 9/11 ceremony at the Pentagon appeared to show swelling around his ankles. The White House disclosed in July 2025 that Trump, now 80, had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency after developing swelling in his lower legs.

The photographs cannot establish whether the swelling represented any change in Trump's condition. There was also no indication from the White House or other officials that he experienced an acute medical problem during the ceremony.
