Donald Trump Focuses On Fundraising Amid VP Speculation

Donald Trump Trump's criminal hush money trial kicks off in New York City

Donald Trump is actively campaigning in Kentucky and Ohio following two presidential primaries that took place overnight. Notably, Nikki Haley, although no longer running against Trump, garnered significant support with nearly 18% of the vote in Nebraska and almost 20% in Maryland, both closed primaries exclusive to Republicans. Trump experienced a drop of nearly 20% in each state.

Today, Trump's primary focus is on fundraising, with plans to attend two fundraisers. The first event is a lunch fundraiser in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he will be accompanied by J.D. Vance, a Senator from Ohio and a potential candidate for Trump's VP list. Later in the day, Trump will head to Lexington, Kentucky, for another fundraiser with prominent donors Barbara Banke, oil tycoon Jim Craft, and former ambassador Kelly Craft.

The Trump campaign is intensively working to bridge the fundraising gap with Joe Biden's substantial war chest. Last night, Trump held a fundraiser in Manhattan, attended by senators, congressmen, and governors, signaling strong support for his campaign. Notable figures like Rick Scott, Doug Burgum, Tim Scott, Marco Rubio, and House Speaker Mike Johnson have been actively showing solidarity with Trump.

While Trump is not expected to announce his running mate until closer to the Republican National Convention in July, the recent surge in high-profile appearances suggests a brewing veepstakes. Trump's surrogates are actively vying for his attention, showcasing their credentials and aiding in fundraising efforts.

During a car ride to the courthouse, Trump expressed satisfaction with the attention garnered from the trial and the notable figures supporting him. This week seems to have buoyed Trump's spirits, with the ongoing audition of potential running mates adding to the campaign's momentum.
