Throughout the trial, there was speculation about whether Donald Trump would testify. Despite initial indications that he might take the stand, he ultimately did not. The decision not to testify was not surprising to many observers.
However, the defense did call Robert Costello as a witness in an attempt to undermine the credibility of Michael Cohen. Costello's testimony, though, may have backfired as he faced intense cross-examination from both the prosecution and the defense.
Costello was the final witness to testify before the jury, who will now have a week-long break before closing arguments begin next Tuesday. The judge anticipates that the case will be in the hands of the jury by the following Wednesday.
