President Donald Trump threatened to commit war crimes against Iran on Easter Sunday. Trump, in a fit of rage, promised to bomb civilian infrastructure throughout the country if Iran refuses to open the Strait of Hormuz.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell — JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah,” Trump wrote on social media.

Not only is the president proposing to escalate the war and endangering civilians, but he’s also speaking of terrorizing innocents on Easter Sunday—a Christian holiday that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus. It’s imprudent to speak of inducing the deaths of thousands of people, particularly during this holiday.
Right-wing figures condemn Trump’s statement
Even Trump’s former allies could not stomach his outrageous social media post.
Ex-Trumper former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on X, “Everyone in his administration that claims to be a Christian needs to fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God and stop worshipping the President and intervene in Trump’s madness.”
She added, “This is not making America great again, this is evil.”

Right-wing journalist Piers Morgan tagged Trump in his response. He wrote, “This is embarrassing, Delete it, President @realDonaldTrump—unless you want everyone to think you’ve lost your marbles.”

Far-right conspiracy theorist and podcaster Alex Jones couldn’t condone the bombing. He commented, “We’ve never seen rhetoric out of presidents like this when we go to war, even before this war. This is really bad PR.” He added that the message was not fit for Easter and talked about Trump’s erratic behavior and incoherent speech.

But Trump is known for his outrageous statements. Being in war has done nothing but exaggerate his instability.
Casually promising crimes on Easter Sunday
Trump has been moving negotiation deadlines with Iran—this is the sixth time he’s done so. But now, he’s threatening to obliterate not just one, as his post suggests targeting multiple infrastructures. Earlier today, the United States struck the B1 Bridge in Karaj, killing eight people and injuring 100 others.
Bombing it is akin to bombing the Golden State Bridge—it’s an engineering marvel. And yet, that doesn’t matter to Trump, who vowed to bomb Iran “back to the stone age.” Trump is past putting on pretenses of saving Iranian protesters from their repressive government, and he is no longer pretending to care about civilians. Instead, he brazenly posts his plans to attack—plans that can be considered war crimes under international law.
Trump’s statement is indefensible. Bombing dual-use structures should not be done lightly, and costs should always be weighed. But now that the B1 Bridge was bombed, Iran may have a justification to target a US-allied, neighboring country’s bridge. Iranian media released a list of regional bridges that they might target in retaliation, citing the Sheikh Jaber Al‑Ahmad Al‑Sabah Causeway connecting Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
But Trump is desperate, to say the least. Despite the military victories the United States had over the country, Iran has not relinquished its hold of the Strait of Hormuz. The country is also repeatedly denying negotiations. Waging war against Iran will have lasting consequences on the United States’ reputation that is yet to be seen. There will be no fast victory for Trump in this scenario, nor can he simply declare that the United States has already won.
