Donald Glover has postponed the remainder of the North American dates on his final tour as his alter-ego, Childish Gambino, in order to focus on his “physical health.”
The multi-hyphenate singer and actor, 40, who’s been traveling on his The New World Tour since early August, made the announcement on social media on Monday (September 9).
“Hey everyone. unfortunately i have to postpone the rest of the north american tour to focus on my physical health for a few weeks,” the “This is America” singer wrote on social media.
“Hold onto your tickets. ALL tickets will be honored for the upcoming dates in north america when they are rescheduled. thanks for the privacy. thanks for the support. thanks for the love.”

Glover’s decision comes nearly a month after he kicked off the first leg of the tour in Oklahoma last month. He was expected to make stops in several other major North American cities before heading to Europe, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
The tour, which is his first in five years, was scheduled to conclude on February 11, 2025, in Perth, Australia. It is in support of his two final albums – Atavista and Bando Storm and the New World – released under his Childish Gambino persona.
The 5-time Grammy-winning rapper revealed in April his plans to retire Childish Gambino following the release of his two final projects.
Atavista is a “finished” version of his surprise 2020 album 3.15.20, while Bando Storm and the New World serves as the soundtrack to an upcoming film of the same name.
Both have been well-received by critics, with The Independent’s Louis Chilton praising the latter for being as “great as it is unwieldy” in his four-star review. Meanwhile, Variety labeled Atavista “brilliant.”
Glover initially garnered international fame for his starring role as Troy Barnes on NBC’s hit sitcom Community from 2009 to 2014. He later created, starred in and occasionally directed FX’s award-winning four-season drama Atlanta.
It was in 2011 when he signed to Glassnote Records and dropped his debut album, Camp, under his Childish Gambino moniker. He’s released a total of five records throughout his career as Childish Gambino. In 2013, he released his second album, Because the Internet, and in 2014, he released his third album, Awaken, My Love!.
Before that, he had independently released several mixtapes and EPs under the name mcDJ.
