'Don't want him' — Man City fans react to transfer stance on Arsenal's Bukayo Saka

Manchester City have distanced themselves from reports linking them with a surprise move for Arsenal attacker Bukayo Saka.

Saka, 20, has emerged as one of the brightest young talents in the Premier League over the past couple of seasons, but his current contract situation has cast doubts over his future at Arsenal.

The attacker has two years remaining on his current deal, but so far he is yet to sign an extension. Should he not agree to new terms this summer, then Arsenal could face selling him for a knock-down fee in 2023 — or risk losing him for free in 2024.

Multiple reports suggested that City were monitoring the situation and were considering a move, but club sources have indicated to MEN Sport that the forward is not in their plans for this or subsequent transfer windows.

Saka is a regular starter for Mikel Arteta's Arsenal, and was nominated for both the 2020/21 and 2021/22 PFA Young Player of the Year awards. He is now a regular fixture in Gareth Southgate's England squad.

In many respects Saka is just the kind of player City like to sign — a young, versatile and skilful attacker who is familiar with the kind of football the Blues play, thanks to working with Arteta. However, it seems that City fans aren't too bothered that the club have distanced themselves from the player. Here's what they said about Saka:

@mcfcadam10: We got Palmer anyways

@NettyCiteh: Clearly his agent trying to get a better contract from arsenal

@kt_2112: Good, don’t want him. Strengthen the defence instead

@DeBlueLou: Not a total denial... if Saka's extension fails...

@Bluemanchester9: it's agent talk and he is not good enough
